Garage Quick Cleanup

Today I had a great time zooming through a garage! Though it was hot, I was able to make a big difference in two hours. The client provided me with a fan and some ice water so I think those two things allowed me to go that long outside in our lovely AZ summer heat.

The problem was that things weren’t in any order. No one could find anything. Multiple toolboxes had duplicate items and were in disarray themselves. Gardening supplies were mixed up with paint stuff, and car cleaners were mixed up with tile and grout.

Here are the photos I took on my LG cell phone, which are surprisingly good for being just a little dinky thing (compared to the big-bad iPhones and Droids nowadays).

I LOVE using those pegboard systems. I highly recommend them. They are so easy to use and are customizable. The ‘after’ photo might not look perfectly neat, but that wasn’t the goal — the goal was to have all of the tools as accessible as possible. This peg system does that job very well!

Find Your Decorating Style

I took a few style quizzes and here are the results. Click the link for each listed below and take the quizzes to figure out your own styles!

  1. Ethan Allan Style Quiz: This one is very pretty, I like it. Soft and casual but elegant. Yep!
    Ethan Allen: Estate Style
  2. IKEA’s Find Your Style Quiz: I got the Modern Zen result. This is a lot of fun stuff and really modern, but it wouldn’t fit my current home design which is kind of traditional. If I could start from scratch I’d probably design this way. Fun, bold, bright, happy stuff!

  3. Kaboose Style Quiz: I often like the cottage look but I don’t think I would decorate my whole house in it. I have a good friend who does an amazing job with the cottage chic look but I don’t think I could pull it of nearly as well! The only thing I didn’t like about my results was that the results page didn’t provide you with places where you could explore the style itself. No links like “Check out rooms with this style” or something similar.

  4. Sproost.com Quiz: I got the “Hollywood Couture” style! Wow, sounds very glamorous.  If only I had the money to decorate lavishly like that (and the agreement of the husband). The keywords and phrases for this style are: lounging, socializing, bold colors, bright white, striking textures, over-the-top material palette, and styles from the “years between the roaring 20’s and the swinging 40’s” – how fun!

  5. My Home Idea’s Style Assistant: this isn’t really a quiz; just spin the wheel and random styles come up. From there you can explore the style further, and it saves all the “spins” so you can go back to them. I couldn’t go directly to the one I wanted without spinning over and over until it came up (I lost patience and left the site).

Now, something you should know. Cabinet knobs and pulls are often for cabinets (obviously). But we’re using them for a different purpose… That means you’ll need some tools. Hop on over to Simply Modern Mom for instructions on mounting knobs to a wall.
